State of California Chief Information Officer Teri Takai announced today that she has appointed Michael Byrne to be the state's first ever Geospatial Information Officer. He will be responsible for coordinating California's digital mapping efforts.
Byrne currently serves as the Chair of the California GIS Council. He is a member of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee and serves as Board of Director for both GreenInfo Networks and the National States GIS Council.
