Computer maker Apple announced today that it has hired former AMD Chief Technology Officer Bob Drebin to serve as its new Senior Director. The fact that Drebin worked at AMD until January of 2008 begs two questions. First, is there a non-compete clause at work here and second, what is Apple up to? Just days ago plans were revealed to acquire Santa Clara, California based semiconductor company P.A. Semi and now seems to be snatching up hardware industry executives.
Previously Drebin was Chief Technology Officer for the Graphics Products Group at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Before that he was Engineering Director and a Fellow at ATI Technologies Inc. (ATI).
