appbank_facebook_sept09a.jpgEight years ago job titles like "social media marketer" and even "community manager" were few and far between. As netizen and social networking populations have grown over the years, so too have the number of opportunities to earn money online. Enter AppBank - the first crowd-sourced paid content service for Facebook. With AppBank, users build quizzes, polls and games and earn money by getting their friends involved in their creations.

appbank_facebook_sept09b.jpgReadWriteWeb has written articles on sponsored social media in the past, including sponsored Tweets and sponsored blog posts. However, AppBank takes a slightly different approach. Users have the creative freedom to experiment and create actual Facebook apps using a basic quiz-based template. The company is less interested in the content and messaging of the application as it is in the people it engages.

To become an App Designer, users add the AppBank App Designer Application in Facebook. From here they are asked to choose between creating a personality quiz, trivia quiz, name decoder and gift. Users then create their project, add it to the Facebook Developer site and apply for AppBank payment verification.

It took me approximately 30 minutes to create my 5 question movie quiz and see it indexed next to other Facebook quizzes. We're also given the opportunity to track our application traffic via a basic analytics dashboard. It will be interesting to see if AppBank's template-based quizzes can compete with more robust developer-built applications. In any case, the company has huge opportunities to expand its template as well as tailor content for the Facebook mobile experience. To build your own application, visit AppBank.com
