Raising funding is hard any way you slice it, but the emergence of cause-base resources is helping pave the way for ethical startups that might have otherwise gone unseen. A few years ago we featured 13 seed funding options for entrepreneurs. Since then a few investment groups have come forward with a different approach. One such funder is the education-focused incubator Startl.

At this point, most programmers have already heard about StackOverflow. First started last year by celebrity coders Joel Spolsky and Jeff Atwood, coding Q&A site StackOverflow crowdsources programming solutions for all to see. The site is popular for its Digg-like voting interface, clean design and, of course, its useful information. The duo has since begun licensing the software behind StackOverflow to provide companies with customizable Q&A forums on a number of topics.

A new feature introduced today by Google lets users quickly preview forum discussions within search results.

The new feature will apply to sites that have a large number of relevant posts for a user's search query. Users will see the topic of the thread, the number of posts, and the date the thread was posted.

UserVoice is a little startup that offers a customer support service for any website and allows users to give votes to their favorite suggestions. At first glance it looks like Digg for customer feedback. Spend a little time on the site, though, and you'll see there's a whole lot more going on.
