USA.gov Embraces RSS: Launches Breaking News Service
If you want to stay current on the latest updates from U.S. government agencies, you can now find a central repository of RSS feeds with the latest breaking news from these agencies on the newly designed news.USA.gov, the U.S. government's official online portal. The site now hosts a selection of RSS feeds with updates about anything from recent product recalls to press releases about foreign policy issues from the State Department. You can also, of course, read the feeds right on the site.
Why We're Desperately Awaiting Feedsqueezer
When the RSS management company Feedburner was acquired by the internet goliath Google back in May of 2007, some people were excited, others were concerned. On the one side, there was hope that putting Google's weight behind the struggling service would improve the speed with which feeds were updated. Real-Time News: PubSub Gets Ready for a Comeback
In 2002, PubSub released an interesting and useful product that provided a real-time search engine for RSS feeds, flight information, Usenet posts, and even earthquake updates. Sadly, PubSub closed its doors in 2007 and its assets were bought by Something Simpler. Today, however, we received an email from Something Simpler, stating that PubSub will relaunch within the next 90 days. We also get a chance to get a sneak peek at the new PubSub, which received a complete facelift, but still provides a great real-time search experience.

Feedly Adds Bleeding Edge Tech to Feed Reading Tool
Feedly, a magazine style feed reader that syncs with Google Reader, just released a very interesting and useful integration with Mozilla's Ubiquity. Ubiquity gives Firefox a command-line interface that makes tasks like bookmarking a page on delicious, sending a quick message to Twitter, or searching Google and Flickr as easy as typing in a few letters without ever having to use the mouse. Among many other things, feedly's Ubiquity integration now lets you share any Web page on Google Reader and send a tweet with a link through Ubiquity.
R.I.P. Enterprise RSS
It's with a heavy heart and a sense of bewilderment that we conclude that the market for enterprise-specific RSS readers appears to be dead. Two years ago there were three major players offering software that delivered information to the computers of business users via RSS. Today it looks to us like the demand simply never arose and that market is over.
A smattering of employees in big companies are using the free consumer app Google Reader, a paltry substitute for a business class RSS reader, and the rest of the business world is apparently satisfied to get information whenever they happen to stumble over it. It's insane - a solid RSS strategy can be a huge competitive advantage in any field. We have no idea why so relatively few people see that.
