VMware Brings Virtualization To Mobile Phones

VMware, a company known for their virtualization software for the desktop and datacenter, recently announced their plans to bring that software to mobile phones through their new VMware Mobile Virtualization Platform (MVP). The software is built on technology the company acquired from Trango Virtual Processors just last month. With this new technology, you would no longer have to carry both a work phone and a personal phone. Instead, your I.T. department could just deploy the corporate phone's profile to your personal device where it would then run in a virtualized space.

A new tool for businesses dealing with the issue of multilingual communications was launched this week from a company called SDL. The SDL Automated Translation Solutions tool attempts to solve the language barrier problem by providing instant translations of web content, Microsoft Office documents, instant messages, and emails. It also allows for integration of automated translation into corporate intranet infrastructures and business applications. Has the global language barrier just been broken?

Charlene Li, co-author of Groundswell, and former Forrester analyst, has recently launched her own company, the Altimeter Group.  This week, she gave a keynote at the Social Media Marketing Summit 2008, San Francisco. Known for her commitment to social media, and belief that marketing and advertising are fatally flawed, Li started with a Google search on 'Comcast'.  The ninth result is a YouTube video titled: A Comcast technician sleeping on my couch. 

"This is why social media is so important," Li said, "this YouTube video recorded by 'Brian' resulted in the Comcast brand going down the toilet. You must understand that the power is now in the hands of consumers."
