Samsung Launches Android Developer Forum

Samsung androidsSamsung has launched a new developer forum today, just for its Android application developer community. The forum, linked to from Samsung's existing developers website (http://developer.samsung.com), will include "additional features and functionality," according to the handset maker. Currently, the forum is offering news, updates, technical advice and support, plus many other development tools and SDK plugins.

Grou.ps Raises $1.1 Million And Goes Open Source

The San Francisco based social groupware provider Grou.ps announced today that it has secured a Series A round of financing for $1.1 Million in a deal led by Golden Horn Ventures. Grou.ps has also announced that it is open sourcing a restricted version of its code under the Affero Public License.

Grou.ps aims to provide users with a comprehensive set of tools to collaborate online and currently has about 200,000 active users worldwide.

Similarr: Talk About Search Results

Similarr is a new search mashup that turns search results into highly targeted discussion forums. The site mashes search results from Live.com with a customized version of the open source phpBB forum to create a search engine the encourages discussion about its results. There is certainly room for improvement, but as a concept, Similarr might actually make some sense.

Tangler Embedding Feature Now Available to All

Tangler, a tool for enabling real-time discussions anywhere on the web (see our previous coverage here) has just announced a new version of their product which now supports the long-awaited embedding feature. This feature, which had been in private beta since mid-2007, is now available to all, allowing you to put embedded forums on any web site, blog, or social network profile.

AltSearchEngines Launches Forum

ReadWriteWeb network blog AltSearchEngines announced this week a partnership with Near-Time to establish a new forum. The forum has three levels. One tier is for CEOs and executives of Alternative Search Engines, the second tier is open to all AltSearchEngines readers, and the third tier is for the international advisors who provide AltSearchEngines with their bilingual content.
