Earlier this month I presented the keynote at the ReadWriteWeb Mobile Summit, on the topic of Mobile trends in 2010 and beyond. The presentation, delivered at the beautiful Computer History Museum in Mountain View, aimed to stimulate discussion about the business and technology of Mobile.
Frederic Lardinois wrote a good overview of the presentation on the day. In this post, we publish the slides along with the richly colored photographs that RWW's Chris Cameron took.
Last Friday, ReadWriteWeb hosted our second unconference event in Mountain View, California as experts from around the world gathered to discuss the mobile Web and its future. One of the hot topics I was eager to discuss going into the event was augmented reality (AR) - a top trend that we are tracking here at ReadWriteWeb. In case you weren't able to make it out to the summit, here is an overview of the discussions surrounding augmented reality from the event.
Last week we asked you to send us your questions for our interview with wine connoisseur and social-media expert Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary and his consulting company VaynerMedia recently ran an experiment with the NBA's New Jersey Nets and geolocation app Gowalla (in which Gary is an investor) to see if location services could draw fans to games with free tickets. For all parties involved, the experiment was deemed a success, and the findings from it have provided a unique insight into the future possibilities for geolocationtional advertising.
We are just about to begin the last few sessions here at the RWW Mobile Summit and we just completed an experiment called "speed geeking." Much like speed dating, summit attendees rotated every five minutes to a variety of tables feature demos from over a dozen companies. While wandering around and snapping photos, I overhead a lot of great discussions about the various products from both the presenters and the attendees. So far the Mobile Summit is going great as fascinating debates and discussions are coming from every corner of the event. Check out a photo of the speed geeking after the break.
A great discussion about opportunities for mobile startups kicked off in the first session of today's RWW Mobile Summit in Mountain View, California. The challenge was proposed to brainstorm possible markets for mobile that are not being served, or served well. In the small group discussion, we all agreed that location-based advertisements, for the most part, have not been able to break through into higher levels of success. So what lies in the way of a truly successful mobile location-based ad platform?
During his keynote presentation at the ReadWriteWeb Mobile Summit today, our founder and editor Richard MacManus examined the trends and issues around mobile that we have been tracking here on RWW. Among the topics covered in today's keynote were geo-location, mobile commerce, cloud computing, privacy, and the Internet of Things. MacManus' discussion also touched upon the advantages and disadvantages of mobile websites and native apps.
Our ReadWriteWeb Mobile Summit will kick off with a keynote by our founder and CEO Richard MacManus this morning. MacManus will talk about the key mobile trends we have been following here at RWW over the last few months, as well as his thoughts about where the mobile Web is heading next. Our friends at Justin.tv will provide a live stream of the keynote, which will start around 8:30am PT.
This Friday we're running our second unconference event, the ReadWriteWeb Mobile Summit. It's on right after the Web 2.0 Expo and we're once again holding it at the beautiful Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Our last unconference was on the Real-Time Web and we got a lot of great feedback about the format and high quality of discussion. We're hoping for more of the same this Friday! Also yours truly will be presenting a keynote presentation about the future of Mobile.
We're giving away 5 tickets to the event, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors: CallFire, WorldMate, Alcatel-Lucent, Ipevo and MyCityWay.
