no-smoking.jpgIt's been nearly 40 years since cigarette advertisements on television and radio were banned in the U.S., and earlier this summer new regulations went into effect prohibiting tobacco companies from sponsoring events, but now the tobacco industry may have found a new, unregulated medium to advertise on - the Internet.

A study released this week describes an "Internet policy vacuum on Web 2.0" that's left YouTube rife with pro-tobacco content.

Proposed Financial Regulations Could Cripple Angel Investing

legislation_gavel_mar10.jpgIn the wake of the financial meltdown, a new set of financial regulations proposed by Senator Christopher Dodd aimed at plugging the "too big to fail" loopholes could have some negative side effects for the angel investment community. According to a report from the Seattle-based site TechFlash, Dodd's bill would require that angel investments be approved by the SEC, a process that could take as many as 120 days to complete.

Admit it. You don't always read the EULAs when you install software on your computer. You just click "I Agree." The same goes for the web. Most of us don't read the privacy policies that accompany our favorite web sites and services (myself included, apparently). But our failure to do so has some researchers suggesting that it's time the Federal Government got involved. According to these researchers, today's privacy policies are long and hard to read. Instead, they think it may be time for the FTC to step in and read the privacy policies for us.

A recent study in the UK showed that most Britons have a strong desire for the regulation of social network sites like MySpace and Facebook. In fact, 9 out of 10 people said there should be tighter regulation and, according to today's The Guardian, 89% said there should be a set of widely accepted rules to help prevent personal information from being abused.
