Twitvid Redesign Puts Personalization Before Popularity

By Alicia Eler / December 13, 2011 3:30 PM / View Comments

TwitVid-150-150.jpgToday Twitvid announced that it is launching a new open social video network and redesigned site focused on helping users find their favorite videos. Twitvid wants to make it easier to upload clips and share them to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and Twitter.

For now, Twitvid's frontpage interface looks more like Digg's (before the social newsrooms). It shows most popular TwitVids by views, along with a featured Twitvid and a Twitvid Tuesdays Winner. There is a list of popular members on the right rail. Twitvid is tossing this simplistic design for user profiles that focus on personalized video taste. Sharing will be more focused around personal interests rather than top rated content. Imagine the Facebook news feed, but only populated by video that has been personalized to your tastes.

Capture Your Summer with Great Mobile Video Apps

By Dana Oshiro / August 12, 2009 8:00 PM / View Comments

video_mobile_aug09.jpg One of the first appearances of a mobile phone in a major Hollywood movie was in director Billy Wilder's 1954 Audrey Hepburn classic, "Sabrina". Today, millions of phone owners across the world could recreate "Sabrina" from start to finish from the comfort of their hand held devices. In fact, if we chose to, we could mobilize a global streaming event. But let's be honest, the last thing we want to do is sit inside story boarding a pre-existing movie. It's the summer! Get outside, grab your phone and capture some of the great moments happening around you. Below are some of our favorite mobile video services.

12seconds Gets a New iPhone App: Sending Video to Twitter Made Easy

By Frederic Lardinois / July 31, 2009 11:10 AM / View Comments

12seconds_logo_jul09.png12seconds.tv, an online video service that lets users upload short video clips, just announced its new iPhone application. While the first 12seconds app could only send still pictures and audio, this new version can finally also send real video from the new iPhone 3GS to 12seconds' online service. To post a video, users of 12cast (iTunes link) simply record a new video in the app (no longer than 12 seconds), give it a title, and hit the send button. In addition, users can also send any pre-recorded videos right from their library to 12seconds.

TwitVid.com Gives Video-Happy Twitter Users a Range of Options

By Jolie O'Dell / July 23, 2009 3:30 PM / View Comments

Many users have long sought the ultimate app for mashing up Twitter and online video. Several services have emerged in this space, but many that we tested have been found wanting.

Today, we've been playing with TwitVid.com and the new, free TwitVid iPhone app. Both have greatly impressed us with a simple, well-integrated interface and just the right balance of great function without feature bloat. Does TwitVid have what it takes to win the Twitter-come-video game?
