Earlier today, conversation tracking site UberVu launched Compare. The service allows you type your name and a competitor's name into search boxes to produce information on your competing brand conversations on Twitter, Blogger, Friendfeed, Facebook, WordPress, HackerNews and Youtube. After all, if social media is the lead generator and customer service tool that we think it is, then it's important for us to know where we stand against our competitors.
No one with any tact would ever tell you that you look fat to your face. But a sea of anonymous netizens will tell you in real-time on multiple channels. Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Twilight's Stephenie Meyer all come up on real time search engines if you type in "looks fat". And each of these women would see these painful comments if they listened to the publicist who told them to "measure brand conversation". When we last covered UberVU, the company had just launched ContextVoice API - an API that helps developers create tools for conversation tracking. Today, the company added new search functionality to ContextVoice with a number of useful filtering options.
When PR agencies encourage corporate executives to engage in public dialogue, they tell them to "embrace the chaos". As of today, chaos has a measurement API, and its name is ContextVoice. Romanian SeedCamp winner UberVU just launched ContextVoice in the hopes that inquisitive companies will "track the web's conversational graph". In other words, we're about to see a smorgasbord of brand commentary and all the social media trimmings will be there.
