By Richard MacManus / November 21, 2008 3:20 PM

Every now and again some of us at ReadWriteWeb pop up in video or podcast recordings. Our VP Content Dev Marshall Kirkpatrick moreso than me, as he is based in the US. And Marshall is appearing on an interesting live video show tonight, called Strange Love Live. It will be broadcast live on Ustream at 10pm PST tonight (Friday). Hosted by Cami Kaos and Dr. Normal, Strange Love Live focuses on the latest happenings in online tech - calling on techies around the Portland, Oregon area to provide insight into their areas of expertise. Interesting without being dull, recent topics have ranged from OpenID to WordPress to iPhone apps. We're looking forward to seeing Marshall live tonight! Tune in at 10pm PST.

While social networks can sometimes overlap in features, there are a selection of features that you can only find on one network or the other. This has been the case for Facebook and Myspace users for years. However, Myspace is looking to play catch-up this week. The popular social network has launched a new video feature that Facebook members have had for months. Myspace users can now record a video directly from their webcam and upload it to their Myspace profile.

Now, it's well known that the name 'ReadWriteWeb' is a tongue twister - even I have trouble pronouncing it at times, and I created the name! Check out some of the entrants so far, very funny...

New Odeo Coming Next Month - FireAnt With a Coat of Paint

By Josh Catone / January 8, 2008 1:55 AM

In May of last year, Sonic Mountain bought the assets of Evan William's podcast directory Odeo (and then promptly renamed itself Odeo). In September, the new company bought out its chief rival, FireAnt, for about $400,000. The company planned to launch in December a public beta of its new software that merged Odeo's podcasting tools with FireAnt's desktop media player (which aggregated video blog feeds). Odeo obviously missed that date, but company COO Eric Rupert says that he expects the new Odeo "to be released for a more 'open' beta sometime at the beginning of Feb."
