Zoho Takes on Quickbooks with New Accounting Application

Zoho launched the 26th addition to its growing suite of Web-based applications: Zoho Books. It's now available both from Zoho and from the Google Apps Marketplace. It costs $24 per month, with two users included. Additional users will cost $5 per month.

The application also integrates with Paypal, Google Checkout & Authorize.net to receive payments. Bank transactions need currently need to be adding manually, but Zoho spokesperson Raju Vegesna says bank integration will be implemented soon.

Zoho logo 150x150 Zoho's Raju Vegesna wrote a post looking back at Zoho CRM in 2010, emphasizing all the new integrations Zoho has rolled out this year. According to a post on Twitter, Zoho released a new CRM integration every six weeks. Meanwhile, the company released several integrations between its own products, such as Zoho Wiki and Zoho Projects. This was clearly the year of integrations for Zoho.

Nomadesk Users Can Now Edit Files in the Cloud with Zoho Integration

Users of desktop-to-cloud synchronization service Nomadesk can now edit files in the cloud with Zoho. Nomadesk users can right-click on a document, spreadsheet or presentation on the web-based Nomadesk dashboard and click "edit" to open the file in Zoho. Changes are then synchronized to the user's desktop.

Until now, Google Apps permitted one domain per account. That has become an issue, especially for larger organizations, migrating employees on multiple domains. Companies would either set up other domains as domain aliases or set up different Google Apps accounts for each domain.

Zoho Wiki Adds Enterprise Features: Access Controls, Workspaces, Dashboards

Zoho updated its Zoho Wiki to version 2.0 today, adding features such as granular access controls and the ability to create individual workspaces for different business units, departments, or teams. This represents a shift in Zoho's positioning of the product from a simple app to an enterprise-level platform for intranets, knowledge bases and collaboration.

Microsoft Rolls Out Office Web Apps

Office 2010 logo Microsoft rolled out Microsoft Office Web Apps on Skydrive to users in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Ireland yesterday. Users can login with their free Live accounts and create and edit Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010 and Excel 2010 documents in their browsers, and store them in the cloud. Users don't need an Office 2010 desktop license to use the apps, but the Skydrive version integrates with desktop versions of Office 2007 and 2010. There is also a beta version of Office Web Apps that can be deployed on-premise as part of Sharepoint.

Zoho Goes Beyond Google Apps With Unified Search

The search service makes Zoho one of the few services that can offer a search that spans multiple applications. For instance, Google offers search for individual applications but not across the entirety of its services.
